So, home today from the Gathering... It was a great event, followed by spending several days both taking down the site and set, and coming down from the weekend high.
I can't quite believe that the main event season is already over. I know there's still the parliament in October, and I'm looking forward to that already, but where has the year gone? And how did the Gathering get over so quickly?
I'm trying really hard to remember all the things I was thinking I wanted to do over the last few days - lots and lots of ideas came rolling along post-event (as usual).
I want to make sure I stay in touch with lots of people.
It's something I've been awful at in the past, but despite the cost of petrol, the various distances and directions, the lack of contact emails & numbers... I really want to see more of people this year!
Here's hoping for sociability!

You are in a mall when zombies attack. You have:
1. One weapon
2. One song blasting on the speakers
3. One famous person to fight along side you.
1. Now, I know that I ought
to go for some firepower... either a shotgun or a flamethrower... but it'd have to be a melee weapon, and probably a sword.
2. Cochise by Audioslave. It's got the steady rhythm and power to keep the heart pumping and the sword swinging. And I like it.
3. Well, with my less-than-sensible answer to question 1, I'd need to have someone useful... But frankly, I'd feel most likely to survive with carnaaki
there, and I'm not sure he qualifies as 'famous' just yet...
So, if I cheat and have someone famous as well
? Ummm... How about Vin Diesel? I think he might be crazy enough...
If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
I was tagged by mings_kitten
to do this meme...
1. Pick up the nearest book
2. Open to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence
4. Post the next three sentences
5. Tag 5 people, and acknowledge who tagged you.
Book: 'Break No Bones' by Kathy Reichs (which I havn't actually read yet...)
"She said she planned to swing by the sheriff's office shortly to "goose" Gullet. Her words.
Reminded of my hunger by the reference to fowl, I hit the cafeteria."

Okay here's the deal.
2008 has in many ways sucked ass.
In fact I know that many people on my Friends list have suffered disaster, stress, crisis, heart-break, and many many other not nice things.
I myself have had my own share of shit.
So myself and Tes have decided that as of July 1st it shall all change.
July 1st 2008 will be the new new Year and the Day of the Purple Penguins!
The Purple Penguins of Happiness exist only to bring joy into the hearts of many.
So I say to you. If you have had a bad time any time this year, if you know anyone who has been unhappy or stressed...then please, share with them the joy that the Purple Penguins of Happiness bring.( The Way of the Purple PenguinCollapse )

Your Score: Smart Paladin
81% Combativeness, 50% Sneakiness, 55% Intellect, 72% Spirituality
Valorous! Noble! Or possibly just a self-righteous jerk (but with the brains to keep you alive!)... You are a Smart Paladin!
Paladins are holy warriors. They are valorous defenders of the light. Unfortunately, most of them are so ardent in their defense they tend to meet sticky ends faster than you can say "rampaging red dragon." Many people look up to Paladins, while others just consider them stuck up, overbearing, or self-righteous.
Fortunately for you, unlike most Paladins, you're pretty smart. Which means that you're more likely to fall into the "admired" category, rather than the "obnoxious" or "dead" categories.
Much like the crusades, you manage to combine violence and religion, though unlike the crusades, you add a healthy does of intelligence. You may be a staunch defender of the faith, a valorous champion of the weak, or the stuff that jihads are made of. Which ever one you are, just be happy that youve got the smarts to back it up and make it work.
Your Score: The Weasel
You scored 34% domestic, 33% gregarious, 57% trickster, and 70% intellect!
Wild, Solitary, Intellectual Trickster: you are the Weasel!
Stealth, energy, curiousity. Paying attention to your own intuition, being able to see the true intent behind words and actions. Weasel people tend to be self-assured, observant, playful and well grounded. Weasel medicine teaches us to be analytical, and to hone a keen, sharp mind.
This test categorized you based on four different axes of personality, which were then associated with a different animal. The four axes, as well as all possible results are explained below.
Wild/Domestic: This first axis categorizes you based on how much you are drawn to the outdoors, versus how much you are drawn to civilized situations. Domesticity has many shapes and forms, and varies from the joy of dolphins leaping next to a ship to the steadfast loyalty of a family dog.
Gregarious/Solitary: This axis measures how solitary you are. If you scored high, it means that you enjoy the company of other people, while a low score indicates that you prefer a more solitary lifestyle.
Trickster/Serious: This axis measures how well you line up with conventional trickster archetypes. People who fall into this archetype have a sense of humor and an excitable, highly chaotic streak. Scoring low doesn't mean that you don't have a sense of humor; it just means that you probably don't think dynamite is very funny.
Intellectual/Emotional: This last axis determines whether you are more emotional -- acting based on feelings and instinct, or rational and intelectual -- acting more on thought than on your gut feelings.
So, Today was my first day at my new job...
It's still all a bit of a mystery what I'm doing, but I'm feeling pretty happy about it at the moment, so that's good.
A bit tired and under the weather, other than that, but it's all OK.
I have just had a great weekend. :)
I feel so much more myself - better than I have in ages
I feel stronger, and happier, and better able to cope with - well - anything.
I only have to last until the end of the week in my current job, then after 2 weeks of holiday, I start a new one.
At some point, I may have to come in to land, but for the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm flying high.
Sometimes, things can just go right...
